Michalina Kuszel gives us an inside look at her duties as a DELVE graphic designer.
Michalina, what do you do at DELVE?
As a graphic designer, I specialize in designing creative for advertising, publications and visual identification for DELVE’s clients. It’s like being a combination of artist and computer scientist, creating designs and visual elements using complex graphics programs and algorithms. The basis is Adobe Photoshop, but we often combine the capabilities of various Adobe programs to get the best result.
What does your daily routine look like?
My team works with a variety of clients every day, each with unique needs, expectations and guidelines for their brand. As graphic designers, we must ensure that each concept is aligned with the brand’s visual identity, while at the same time adding a certain freshness in line with the latest graphic design trends. Ultimately, what makes our clients happy is our commitment to collaboration and communication—and making sure that their feedback is incorporated into every creative execution.
What is particularly important to you in this job?
From the very beginning, even as a new team member, I got amazing support in learning about our clients, their needs, and the style of our company. With every new task, I gain more experience and understanding—and a sense that I’m helping the growth of both the brand and myself as a graphic designer. Communication between the entire graphic design team is also extremely important; common brainstorming and individual projects allow us to learn new things, solve challenges, and expand the possibilities of DELVE and ourselves. Each of us wants to contribute something new and unique to the creative department, and together, we come up with great graphic ideas and solutions.
What are you most proud of in your work at DELVE?
I’m proud to be part of a company where quality is the priority. We respect our clients and their needs, but we also respect our work. Even though I’m early in my career, I feel very much needed and know that my opinion matters; I’m part of the conversation with my older and more experienced colleagues. I’m proud that I got the opportunity to work on an individual project, which will allow me to not only prove myself, but also to gain experience and skills in new categories such as web design. I also feel the importance of my work: I know that everything I do matters, and that my contribution is helping to build success for our clients and our company.
In your opinion, why is it worth joining DELVE?
After graduating college, I was looking for a place where I could be part of a great team, but feel important as an individual. I also wanted to find a supportive atmosphere where I could gain more experience, in both practice and knowledge, from other graphic designers. All of those criteria are met in my work for DELVE. Despite the distances between teammates, who truly live all over the world, communication between DELVE employees and departments is better than in many stationary companies. Each of us works hard to help build DELVE as a company and as a brand, and it’s great to be a part of it.
