Rafał Hryniewicki gives us an inside look at his duties on the Marketing Analytics Team.
What do you do at DELVE?
I work as a Senior Marketing Data Analyst analyzing data to support marketing efforts for clients. A Big part of my job is handling data and turning it into actionable insights. Thanks to many years of experience, I know the industry better, which allows me to handle more complex projects and help teach junior staff.
I like to say that my job is nothing more than creating tables, joining them, looking at them, asking questions, then answering those questions. But the devil is in the details, so it’s not really as simple as it sounds. It requires a lot of knowledge of marketing, data, mathematics, and even programming languages. Not to mention soft skills like the ability to build relationships with clients and other teams.
What does your daily routine look like?
Every single day is different so I am never bored. Part of my job is building from the data – using data cleansing, preparation, and verification. In the end, I visualize data and make it ready for interpretation. When I’m not building something new, I manage reports and dashboards I already created. Additionally, I’m looking for opportunities to improve data flows and automate more manual tasks.
Another part of my daily routine is communicating with clients in regard to any data and insight requests they may have. I often present to clients and support the media team in getting more from the data which results in better media optimization.
I also serve as an expert in many tools and platforms like Data Studio, Google Sheets, and Google Analytics – helping not only clients, but other members of the DELVE family. Analysts are effective problem solvers so I get involved in helping other teams from time to time. At the end of the day, we are a team and one of the goals is to deliver as seamless an experience as possible to clients.
What is particularly important to you in this job?
Freedom of choices. I’ve never met two Analysts who have the exact same set of skills. There are a lot of tools and knowledge to acquire making it really hard to find two people with the same skill set. You don’t like a particular tool? No problem, go for another one. You got bored and want to do something different? Cool, there are many ways to do the same thing in my job so there is also a creative aspect. I like to learn new things and my position allows me to do just that – making it another important aspect of my job.
What are you most proud of in your work at DELVE?
I like the feeling that I am doing something useful that keeps us moving forward. In general, I am proud of all my work at DELVE but I am extremely happy to hear that my contributions make others’ jobs simpler and faster. All the automation I make allows me to save so much time for my team and others.
What gives you fire in the belly?
All the times I discover something strange within the data and I am able to turn those discoveries into meaningful insights. That drives me the most!
