Title: Manager of Global Marketing and Sales Operations
What are your job responsibilities?
Ultimately, my job is to oversee the functionality and implementation of all marketing and sales tactics that fall within our tech stack.
Additionally, my responsibilities are to onboard, educate, and train sales and marketing staff on processes and to project manage all marketing and sales activities. That means working with third-party vendors, being the point person for an award, helping to organize a conference, and managing internal sales and marketing initiatives are all under my remit.
How long have you been at DELVE?
A year and a half.
What does a typical work day look like for you?
There really isn’t one day that’s exactly the same as the next—except I always have a lot of meetings.
On most days, you can find me catching up from the previous day’s tasks, organizing the projects for the day, and completing lots of strategy work. At this time of year in particular, I spend a lot of time working with ownership on strategic processes for gaining traction in sales and marketing throughout the remainder of the year.
Plus, I handle all Salesforce upgrades and tweaks and internal process updates. I help onboard new clients, and I provide support to sales and marketing.
What is the best part of your job?
Watching things connect and watching things grow. I’m really interested in how things weave into one another. I love to watch processes work and watch technology do its job. I like to see people interact and learn new things. So the interplay of all systems—human and computer-based—is fascinating.
The way we’ve adapted to our environments, especially in the last year with the pandemic, is really eye-opening. It shows how much potential there is in human abilities. That makes me really excited about this job. I get to see everything connect: I see how one department influences another department’s behaviors, and how they interconnect.
And I’m really into the data. I think numbers tell a story, but they can only tell so much. To really understand the whole story, you need the human touch. The data indicates something to me, and then my colleagues can tell me how things are really going, and I get to investigate. And that’s when the fun starts.
How do you stay connected with teammates even when working remotely?
I’m a big initiator. I’ll reach out to you. I’m big with having lots of tidbit conversations with everyone, because we’re all social beings. So having a few minutes with everyone to chat at the beginning of each phone call, or to reach out to people on Slack, is really important to me.
The stress of being tied to a computer all day takes a toll. I’m a really outgoing guy, so I need to adapt to a digital world in a way that allows me to still be outgoing.
What are you excited about, work-wise, in 2021?
I’ve got a lot of projects I’ve been working on over the last year that I’m excited about. I’m excited to see our new website launch later this spring. I’m excited to see all the faces we haven’t seen in a while when we move into our new office.
And I’m excited to see the growth of our Salesforce side. See how everything works in a unified way. Having more structure and more avenues for growth in 2021 is something I’m really excited about. Being part of something that’s growing right now is something you’ve got to be proud of.
My favorite mar tech tool is…
I love Salesforce and its affiliated programs. I’m really passionate about our Salesforce, because I created the way our current org works and functions.
Outside of work, you can find me…
At home with my family. I have a great daughter and an awesome wife. Or, falling from the sky. I’m a skydiver—that’s my hobby.
Something few people know about me is…
Most people don’t know that I build and wrench custom motorcycles.
This year, I’m planning to DELVE DEEPER into…
Getting out more and spending more time traveling this year. Obviously, we didn’t get to travel much in 2020. I want to spread my wings with my family, because my daughter is at that age where she will start to form incredible memories.
